What Ambassador Haley, Pompeo and Today’s President Trump HAD to Say on Human Rights Today

“America had to learn the hard way that talking the talk about human rights is very different from implementing them,” the President said. “Human rights are not some abstraction — they are the inherent right of every single human being, no matter where they come from, what they look like, or who they love.”

We welcome President Trump’s commitment to press forward on human rights and other core national interests. He did not shy away from referring to our own humanity and calling out abuses. While he did not use the words ‘Muslim ban,’ he shared the humanity of refugees and refused to back down on tough words and tough actions.

I’m glad he used the word “disturbing” to describe worldwide reaction to some countries’ elections and elections results. I appreciate the President’s call for our coalition partners to fulfill their obligations with regard to elections and candidacies.
